Muse Finally Coming to North America!
When the Muse announced European dates for their tour over four months ago, it seemed that North American dates were never coming. Now though, fans in Canada and the United States can relax. The Muse are on their way, and shows will start on this side of the pond beginning as early as January 21, 2013!
Just a week after performing in Japan, the Muse will head over to the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego, California on January 21. From there they’ll jump back and forth between Canada and the States, with the North American leg currently including 21 stops in total. Some of the major stops along the way include the Staples Center, the United Center, and Madison Square Garden. Canadian stops include Vancouver, Montreal, Edmonton, and Calgary.
But, even with all the stops, the Muse says that there may even be more added. “Stay tuned for additional tour announcements,” the band says on their official website. But, just what can fans expect for those shows? The band says that they want to turn away from the laptop-generated shows that are becoming the mainstay of so many touring artists.
“People will pay money to see someone with a laptop who’s done all the experimentation at home and pretty much just hits the spacebar,” lead singer Matt Bellamy recently told Telegraph. “There is a part of us that is definitely clinging to the organic, human side of music, to honor our friendship and the fact that we want to play together in a room.”
Tickets for Muse’s North American leg go on sale this Friday, October 12 so mark your calendars! And to find out where and when the Muse will be in your area, check out all the tour dates on the StubPass.com Muse tickets page.
The Killers – Killing Them Softly With Awesome Songs
Time goes by so quickly, especially in the fast-paced technology driven world of today. Sometimes it is just nice to kick back and listen to some nostalgic tunes. The Killers at first glance shouldn’t be “nostalgic”…until you realize the band formed over 11 years ago! The good news is that they are performing all your favorite songs, as well as some new hits off their current album, combining the best of the past and the future.
The Killers newest album is entitled Battle Born and was released on September 18, 2012. This is their fourth studio album together and fans are already loving their newest songs. The band took a hiatus at the beginning of 2010, and the time away certainly gave them some inspiration. They came back on tour and now have some fresh new ideas.
The first single of the album is entitled “Runaways”. Critics are claiming the song stirs up nostalgia, with an 80’s rock vibe, and yet is the closest they have come to their original sounds. Overall, reviews have been positive. Other tracks you are sure to hear blasting on the radio (or on an iPod near you) include “Miss Atomic Bomb”, “Flesh and Bone”, “Here With Me” and namesake track “Battle Born”.
There is even better news: a tour has already been announced and tickets are already on sale. Stops include California, Colorado, New York, Utah, Nevada and more. They also make their way up for a few shows in Canada as well. The first show is scheduled for September, and the tour will run until the end of December, which doesn’t give fans much time to snag tickets, and events are already selling out fast.
Along with their newest hits, the band will be playing old favorites. You will hear “Mr. Brightside”, “When You Were Young”, “Read My Mind”, and more being sung live and in person. Be the first to hear the band play their newest songs live, and enjoy a little nostalgic mind trip as they play your old favorites. Get your tickets online today and don’t miss out seeing The Killers when they come to your neck of the woods.
Come Experience the Power of a Green Day Performance
Green Day is on tour, taking their funky, get down, rock styled music to Las Vegas, Washington, San Francisco, and much more. With brand new music and lyrics, Green Day has been wowing the crowds, showing up recently at New York’s Irving Plaza, rocking down with nearly three hours of hot new tunes and long-term favorites.
Introducing songs from their upcoming album, “Uno!”, they thrilled audiences by mixing in recent hits from “American Idiot” and classic gold singles from past recording artists, such Led Zeppelin’s “Stairway to Heaven”, Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama” and the Rolling Stones “I Can’t Get no Satisfaction” until the early hours of the morning..
“I’m going to keep playing,” announced Green Day front man, Billie Joe Armstrong, and play they did, while the crowds went wild. They had barely belted out their first chords from “Welcome to Paradise” before a mosh pit formed among the screaming fans, and bodies began flying through the air. When one young man, wearing an “American Idiot” tee shirt, crowd-surfed his way to the front and clamored on stage. To the applause and encouragement of Billie Joe, the Green Day enthusiast leaped from the stage, diving back into the mosh pit.
It’s all in fun and having fun is exactly what a Green Day performance is all about. The American punk rock group formed in 1987, with Billie Joe Armstrong as lead guitarist and vocalist, Mike Dimt as bass and back up vocalist and Tre Cool on drums, who replaced drummer John Kiffmeyer in 1990. At that time, Billie Joe and Mike Dimt were only fifteen years old. They called the band at the time, “Sweet Children”, but dropped the name a year later to keep it from becoming confused with another band that was making the rounds at the time, called, “Sweet Baby”.
By 1990, they were already on the way up with their debut album, 39/Smooth. They weren’t just rocking nationally, but during the early 1990’s, were getting down with International tours. Things quieted down for the rock group during the late 1990’s, with hardly a peep heard about them , but Green Day aren’t the type of group to remain quiet long or squeeze out the last penny they can from past successes. They were busy trying out new sounds, and in the year 2000, They busted out with their sixth studio album, “Warning” sweeping up eight California Music Awards the following year.
Since then, it’s been one notable album hit after another, making sound waves with “American Idiot” and “Twenty first Century Breakdown”, which was released in 2009. With these successes under their belt, they began a world tour, starting in North America and reaching around the globe, through the years 2009-2010. The newest album release, “Uno”, is the first of a trio that appropriately follows as “Dos” and “Tres”. Performing live in cities all across America, you won’t want to miss this talented and creative group.
Rihanna Announces “Diamonds” Tour
She toured most of the year on her “Loud” tour and spent the past summer promoting her album “Talk That Talk.” And now, Rihanna has just announced that she’s going to be going on tour once again in the spring of 2013.
In true grandiose Ri-Ri fashion, the singer announced her “Diamonds” tour Friday morning, after she scooped up a VMA award for her hit song, “We Found Love.” At the award ceremony she also performed the song “Cockiness” from “Talk That Talk,” the first time she’s ever performed the song live.
The tour kicks off on March 8 in Buffalo, New York and currently includes 27 stops across North America, with more dates and venues to be announced soon. Some of the major cities included so far along the tour are Toronto, Chicago, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and San Diego, to name just a few. For a full list of dates and venues, you can check out the Rihanna tickets page here at StubPass.com.
Rihanna does have a few shows planned before then though, for fans that just can’t wait. Later this month she’ll be making an appearance at the iHeart Music Radio Festival on September 21 in Las Vegas. Then she’s headed to Baku, Azerbjaijan for a two-night stay. On October 5 she’ll play at T. Bakhramov Stadium, putting on her second performance at Crystal Hall the following night.
Tickets for Rihanna’s “Diamonds” tour go on sale to the general public this Friday, September 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.
One Direction Releasing New Single, Unveils Album Art
In the same year that they released their debut album, One Direction will release their second album, “Take Me Home.” The album will be released on November 13 with the first single “Live While We’re Young,” being released to radio on September 24. One week later, the single will be available on iTunes.
The album, says Niall Horan of the group, “isn’t too different” from their debut album, but fans might find this one has a bit more of a personal touch. The band co-wrote many of the songs, along with renowned British artists such as Ed Sheeran and Tom Fletcher of McFly. Along with injecting their own lyrics, the album of the title is also quite personal.
“We all do a lot of travelling around the world and we get to see a lot of cool places. But the main thing is there’s no place like home. It’s always kind of nice to go home.”
When the band sent the social media world into a frenzy announcing the release of their next single in the next few weeks, they also released album art. The cover depicts all members of the band (Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles and Liam Payne) cramming themselves in and around a telephone booth. Perhaps to call someone and ask for a lift home? The cover has already gotten rave reviews, with fans saying that it shows the fun playful nature of the band.
For those that are wondering if the band plans on touring to promote the album — they are! You can find the dates on our One Direction ticket page at StubPass.com.
Is Taylor Swift Coming to Your School?
She might not come to your actual school (although you could ask her if she wanted a guided tour) but Taylor Swift could be coming to an arena near your school if you get out and vote for her to come!
In conjunction with “VH1 Storytellers” and Chegg for Good, Taylor Swift is holding a contest that will have her playing an acoustic concert near the winning school. The school can be either a college or a high school (students need to be at least 13 years old,) and students can vote for their school here: www.taylorswiftoncampus.com.
The school that receives the most amount of votes will win the grand prize of the Taylor Swift concert and of course, all bragging rights that go along with it. Along with that, the top five schools with the most votes will receive $10,000 for their music department, awarded by Taylor Swift and Chegg for Good. Snippets of the concert will then be broadcast on “VH1 Storytellers” on VH1 on Sunday, November 11. This being just weeks after the release of her fourth studio album, Red, fans can certainly expect to hear a lot about the creative process for that album.
Voting is currently open and will be until September 23, with the concert occurring on or around October 15. Schools must be within the continental United States, and in order to vote you must like Taylor’s Facebook page. Voting is also open to anyone who is of age and lives in the U.S.; you do not need to be a student of the school. However, just because you vote doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get in. The winning school will be awarded the tickets and administrators will be responsible for distributing the tickets.
Going to a Kelly Clarkson Concert? Bring a Request!
Going to a concert is sheer awesomeness for fans. Great music, a chance to see their musical idols live, and maybe even for the first time! But Kelly Clarkson has once again taken things up another level by taking song requests from the fans. Requests that she’ll actually sing! What’s more, the requests she takes are for covers, so it’s a chance to see her done something she’s never done before — adding awesome to awesome.
Kelly Clarkson covering songs as part of her concerts is something that she’s just recently started doing. And if you’re going to the show, all you have to do is tweet the song that you want to hear, and you might at some point during the show. Clarkson has recently rocked out to No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak,” Katy Perry‘s “Wide Awake,” and Britney Spears‘ “Everytime.” She’s even donned a hoodie during a recent Detroit concert and covered Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.” Sure she mostly sang it instead of rapping, but still something very cool to see.
Most recently, it was the current smash hit “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen that Clarkson performed at a concert. After belting out the hit song, Clarkson added that the song “kind of confused me. Does it confuse anybody else? ‘Before you came into my life, I missed you so bad.’ Who did you miss? Because you didn’t know them….I don’t know.” To see her sing the song that confuses her, check it out here.
We don’t know either. But we do know that accepting tweet requests before a show is a great way for stars to take advantage of social media. And we hope more will start doing it!
Alanis Morissette has a New Album, and a New Tour!
Alanis Morissette may have been making her TV reality show appearances lately, singing on American Idol with Crystal Bowersox; and becoming a mentor on last season’s The Voice. But she hadn’t produced an album since Flavors of Entanglement, an album in which critics said she showed the most individuality and growth than she ever had before. Fans wanted more; but they had to wait another four years before they got it. Now, that time is here.
Almost a year after posting on Facebook that she was back in the studio, fans can now expect a new album from Morissette — and a date for it! Being released on August 28 is Morissette’s eighth studio effort, Havoc and Bright Lights; and she’s got a tour planned to promote it as well!
The tour will be named the Guardian Angel Tour 2012, after her first hit single off the album, Guardian. She’ll stop in over thirty cities across North America, and will be bringing new tracks as well as the favorites that fans have fallen in love with over the years.
“The show covers the gamut of every chord choice and every emotion I have ever felt,” she said in a statement announcing the tour. “The songs from the last 17 years are blending together like great friends. Thankfully there is a timelessness in their content and passion for me!”
Be ready to download Alanis’ latest in less than two weeks and, in the meantime, check her tour dates and get Alanis Morissette tickets for a city near you!
Go Evil with Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson
Close the windows, pull the drapes, hide your drugs and weapons. The twins of evil have been unleashed and they’re ready to rip through your town. At last, the kings of sinister, the masters from the boiling pits of insanity on a live wire, Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson are doubling up to set your soul on fire.
Rob Zombie has earned a reputation from not only his music, (White Zombie and then a solo career) but also his films, serving as a director and producer. (And even a writer!) Marilyn Manson is the hard rock devil flirter that brought us such irascible albums as Smells Like Children and Antichrist Superstar. He also did a mean version of Danny Elfman’s “This Is Halloween” from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
You haven’t seen anything yet until you’ve seen these teaming rock stars’ new performance, rolling out of Phoenix, Arizona on September 28th at the Desert Uprising Festival, and wrapping up the first leg of their sizzling, hell bent tour on that sacred day of death and defiance, in Houston, Texas. That’s Halloween for the uninitiated, and what better way to herald in the dead than attending a Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson concert?
Yes, it’s about time the two master fiends of the electric string got together, and they have no intention of letting down their fans. Accompanying them will be J Devil, the DJ alter-ego of Korn’s front man, Jonathan Davis, to drive the sound of electro-metal into utter chaos.
Their agenda is to spook you, thrill you and creep you out. They have plenty up their fiendish sleeves; their morbid theatrics include animatronic robots, pyrotechnics and ghoulish film clips. Zombie is under wraps, working on his new album, but in the meantime plans to release the remix disc, “Mondo Sex Head” on August 7. In the meantime, Manson is kicking up support for hard rocking new album, “Born Villain”, which debuted earlier this year and hit the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart while yielding the hit single “No Reflection”. If you’re looking for the macabre to kick off your autumn festivities, don’t miss out when the “Twins of Evil” go on tour.
Pete Townsend, Quadrophenia and More!
There’s new need to play the catchy little word game, because when it comes down to spectacular rock and roll, when we say “Who”, the answer is an immediate “Pete Townsend“. After releasing their documentary film, “Quadrophenia – Can You See the Real Me?” on July 25th. The Who is scheduled to start the Quadrophenia tour November 1st. Just a few days out, and already the documentary film is raking in enthusiastic attention. With never before seen footage, as well as all the smash elements that initially too k the world by storm and had fans screaming for more in the 1970’s, you couldn’t really expect less.
The tour will be Pete Townsend’s first get-together with colossal musician, Roger Daltrey in four years, but don’t think they’ve been twiddling their thumbs in semi-retirement. Roger Daltrey was recently awarded an honorary degree by Middlesex University. At the ceremony, he was joined by hundreds of students, many of whom had contributed to the visuals in the making of “Tommy”. Daltrey’s only wish was that he had the power to pass out honorary degrees to all these talented, supportive students.
The Who will also be performing at the Olympics’ closing ceremony, along with George Michael. In a statement to the press, Olympic organizers had said they wanted four major recording artists representing fifty years of Britain’s swinging music, and The Who represented its powerhouse swing at the sixties.
Pete Townsend has been hitting the news media with his own brand of activism. Joining Elton John, Robert Plant, Brian May and other top recording artists, he launched a criticism against Google for its role in facilitating file sharing within the United Kingdom. Saying it’s time for Google to clamp down on illegal sites, Townsend wants his creative property protected. Considering that property is some of the best all time rock and roll music to grab both the stage and movie theaters, it’s difficult to blame him. See them. Hear them. Get in touch with the real Who. One of the most unforgettable groups to break the sound barrier, travel to the unimaginable heights as Pete Townsend and Roger Daltrey get together to deliver, “Quadrophenia” and more.
