The 2009-2010 Basketball Season
The Philadelphia 76ers will adorn new uniforms this year, Flip Murray will sign on as guard for the Charlotte Bobcats per a one year contract, it Is possible that LeBron James will go to the New Jersey Nets, and Minnesota Timberwolves center Mark Blount has been given the walking rights to seek a trade despite being the second highest paid athlete on the roster. This is just a tiny glimpse into the goings on throughout the NBA today, and there is, as always, so much more to it all than meets the eye.
Both Nate Robinson and David Lee are in the final stages of contract negotiations which will place them on the roster for the New York Knicks during the 2009-10 season. You got it, the Knicks are on a championship hunt this year, and have thus far been willing to throw in enough playoff incentive money to prove it.
If you’re wondering who the most watched and respected team is coming into this exciting season of professional basketball, you need ponder no longer. The general consensus is that the Denver Nuggets could go all the way this year, and there are few who can give good reason as to argue against this predetermination. Of course, this is the NBA, a stage where anything can, and probably will, happen.

The True Nature Of Monster Jam Trucks
Coming off of an extremely emotional January, 2009, when the first spectator death in nearly 17 years occurred due to a drive train safety mechanism failure, the Monster Jam Truck circuit is ready to gear it back up and hit the road. This is a show which has been a prominent part of southern US culture for over 35 years, and has grown steadily into an event that over 2.5 million spectators attend each year in North America alone.
Add in the countless feature DVD’s sold, the multiple cable programs dedicated to the sport, and the special tours scheduled for performance in the UK and Europe, and you’ve got yourself an unbelievably big deal. There are more trucks on the registration for this Feld Entertainment venue than any other motor vehicle spectacular in the world. That’s a lot of trucks, cool ones, too.
Each Monster Jam Truck event is contested in two separate formats, the first being the race portion of the event, and the second being the freestyle leg. Points are accumulated for each truck and driver who perform well, and of course, who still have a truck to run at the end of the competition. Feld Entertainment denies using favoritism to judge any of the events, although the most famous and successful trucks ,Grave Digger and Batman, are owned and operated through the promoter.
It is common practice for the Monster Jam Trucks to tour in a spread out manner, usually headlining two stadiums within two days with a full entourage, while placing smaller shows around the area with less trucks at smaller venues. This year, the tour kicks off on October 23 in Kentucky. Please visit StubPass.com often for thorough and consistent updates and for secure online ticket sales for all of your favorite events.

Early Playoff Qualification Doesn’t Help The Yankees Rest Easy
This coming weekend brings the New York Yankees to a triple header against their long time nemesis, the Boston Red Sox. This rivalry is a thing of legend, stemming back for over 90 years, beginning with the sale of Babe Ruth from the Red Sox to the Yankees in 1919. Those of you familiar with the Curse of the Bambino need no further explanation, but for the rest of us, this three game clash is just plain exciting. The winner of this match up will likely be crowned division champion, and the Yankees have expressed their unwillingness to head to the playoffs without clinching the division title.
And who would, after all? Who wants to score a touchdown without reaching the end zone? Who wants to kiss the cup without crossing the finish line? Who wants to stand in a World Series playoff position without earning their division championship? These are the New York Yankees, and their minds are not on the 96 games that they have won this season, but on the ten games left before the playoffs.
Ticket prices have been of great concern this event. The Yankees have earned World Series playoff spots 14 times over the past 15 years, but haven’t managed to clinch the top price since 2000 when they took the New York Mets. Primary and secondary sales for the division and World Series runs will continue to be two of the most active sports tickets on the market. The Magical 26 Race Marker: The Chase to the NASCAR Cup is On!
For those of you who have not diligently followed NASCAR over the past five seasons, The Chase was implemented after several points blowouts that seemed to steal all of thunder out of the years’ final and most exciting races. It used to be that each racer was awarded points based on their performance and placements in each race from the beginning of the season. This so often caused a huge gap between the leading racer and the followers along the points scoring area that most fans and racers alike had already predicted the winner of the NASCAR Cup by the 26th or 27th race of the season. This predictability was taking the excitement and competitiveness out of the final runs, making it necessary to add a fair but exciting twist to the scoring agenda.
The Chase is really like the playoffs that you will find in just about every other sport on the planet. Where once the points accumulated throughout the entire year determined the cup winner, now the points accumulated during the first 26 races will determine the 12 finalists who qualify for The Chase leading to the NASCAR Cup Award Ceremony. The top twelve points scorers during this 26 race stint will be leveled out at a score of 5,000 points each, earning 10 additional points for each race won from this point forward.
In addition to this, the 13th runner up is offered a $1 million bonus and a place at the awards banquet at the close of the season. This entire shifting has caused a whole other level of excitement for both driver and fan, meanwhile garnering more attention for the sport and more fairness out there on the track. The Buccaneers – Really Glad It’s The Beginning Of The Season?
During these early games, we fans may believe that early loses are natural, and that they give their favorite team a chance to reevaluate, regroup, and refocus their energies on the tasks ahead. For coaches, players, and owners, however, the preseason games were supposed to do that, and these first games tend to be indicative of what’s to come over the remainder of the season. They are the ones out there, so they have to be pessimistic in order to spark a reversal of old habits and self-defeating attitudes. OK, so the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were taken by the Dallas Cowboys at a score of 37-21. What went wrong?
In all actuality, the game was a good one, and if anyone seemed to be slow at the start of it, it would have to be the Cowboys. Romo wound up with 353 passing yards, teaming up most often with Patrick Crayton who caught 4 passes for 135 yards. Roy Williams, formerly of the Detroit Lions, earned praise for his steady effort and opportunistic play, earning a 66 yard touchdown for the Cowboys after slipping through the Bucs secondary and streaking it home.
The Buccaneers head coach sufficed it to say that he and his team knew the Cowboys were play makers before they got into the game, and that they failed to capitalize on many opportunities to both shut down the Cowboys’ offense and turn on their own scoring line. Leftwich gained an honest and hard-fought 276 passing yards for his Bucs, completing 27 of 41 passes, but the end zone so rarely seemed within reach, even after a 16 play offensive drive during the 3rd quarter. Pinching It Out In OT: The Steelers Take The Titans
This had been projected as a tough game form the start, and it turns out the two teams ended up with a battle of the defenses right to the nail-biting, pulse-pounding end. Both teams were held scoreless throughout the first quarter, with the running game of the Pittsburgh Steelers being foreseen and shut down by the Tennessee Titans for nearly 25 minutes of play. Roethlisberger needed to find a different strategy, and ended up with a winning combination in receivers Ward and Holmes. Once this dynamic passing game was set into motion, Ben was able to throw for 363 yards against the Titans defense, completing 33 of 44 passes.
Though Holmes was good for 131 yards, and Ward for 103, the biggest obstacle on the field continued to elude the team: the end zone. The third quarter would again find both teams with no scoring, and the raging battle between the two defenses continued to hold scoring at bay. With one touchdown and one field goal apiece at the close of regulation play, the stage was set for a 4 and a half minute overtime push toward the ending of the game.
Jeff Reed would win the game for the Pittsburgh Steelers with a field goal kick through the uprights at 4:32 counted on the overtime clock. Once the Steelers were declared the victors and their celebration began, Tennessee Titans coach Jeff Fisher had a few things to say about his teams’ performance and chances for recovery during the remainder of the season. The Titans, according to their coach, are a strong team who missed some vital opportunities and had a field goal blocked, but who are very capable of bouncing right back and winning their remaining games.

Gridiron Excitement – NFL Season Ready To Kick Off
Summer may be coming to a close, but the good news is that the pro-football season is gearing up for another hot season. Just in case you have missed some of the buzz over the weekend, we have some of the news and predictions for some of the hottest NFL teams just for you.
From all accounts, it looks like the New York Giants could have an exceptional year. The Big Blue is experiencing a transition year in terms of their receiver, but there is no faulting the defense.
Provided that Tom Brady can hold up to the task, it looks as though the Pats will have a good year despite the fact that their defense is in transition.
The Minnesota Vikings have definitely attracted some attention, due in no small part to running back Adrian Peterson. The question of whether Brett Favre will be able to carry his load throughout the season is still up in the air, but the defense is in top notch condition. Only time will tell regarding exactly how well the Vikings are able to pull it out this season.
The Chicago Bears have the added benefit of Jay Cutler, who is adding more excitement to the offense than this team has seen in a long time. If the defense can hit the mark as well, this could end up delivering some surprises.
After suffering some knee and back problems last year, Matt Hasselbeck is back at the top of his game, but we’ll have to wait and see exactly what that means for the Seattle Seahawks this year.
Albert Haynesworth is definitely improving the defense for the Washington Redskins. How well they perform this year could come down to whether or not their quarterback, Jason Campbell, is able to pull it off.
No matter which team you’re rooting for this football season, we have all of the tickets you need to satisfy your gridiron thirst. Don’t wait another day to purchase NFL tickets to your favorite team at StubPass.com.
Let’s Play Ball – MLB Playoffs And World Series Just Around The Corner
As summer begins to wind down, so is the 2009 Major League Baseball regular season and you know what that means—it’s time to start thinking about the playoffs! Teams that make the playoffs will begin the postseason on October 7th, with the playoffs running through October 14th. Of the four American League and four National League teams that will compete in the playoffs, the lucky winners will then advance to the League Championship Series kicking off on October 15th. Following the conclusion of the League Championship Series on October 25th, the NLCS and ALCS winners will compete in the 2009 World Series. This year, the World Series will be hosted by the AL, who won the pennant in the 2009 All-Star Game. The first World Series game will take place on October 28th in the American League city.
You may be on pins and needles to know who will face off for those final games, but as of right now the MLB playoff teams have not been decided. Even so, there is some strong speculation that in the American League, the projected teams will include the New York Yankees, the Texas Rangers and the Los Angeles Angels. The wildcard in the bunch is the Boston Red Sox. In the National League, the projected teams are the St. Louis Cardinals, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies, the 2008 World Series Champs. The wildcard team for the National League is the Colorado Rockies.
The season may be winding down but it’s not too late to purchase your playoff or World Series tickets. You know you don’t want to miss the heart pounding excitement of watching your team fight it out live, so order your tickets now from StubPass.com.
The Boston Celtics With A Few Bones To Pick This Year
This season’s tickets are bound to sell like hotcakes, though a few standout games are bound to garner more attention and a faster rate of sale than others. Old arguments, new rivalries, and a competitive nature that spans back over 6 decades, the Celtics are looking at another great season of fiery, fierce, action-packed basketball against some of the most winning and deserving teams in the league. Will you be there?
For starters, the Boston Celtics will face their seven-game rivals the Chicago Bulls for the first time since the Celtics knocked them out of the run during the first round of the finals. The Bulls, we are quite certain, have not forgotten this defeat, but more likely have learned from it and allowed it to guide their training leading up to this year’s season. This big game takes place at the Celtics on October 30th.
On a reverse of the aforementioned scenario, the Celtics will host the Orlando Magic on November 20th, and this should be a very deep and telling game of the wills. Some roster changes have caused the Magic to gain experience, while the Celtics have earned the ignorance and power that is young new blood. The Celtics were dashed during their own game seven effort during the Eastern Conference Championships last year by the Magic, so this should be a great first tip off.
This is also the first year as a Celtic for ex-Piston player Rasheed Wallace, making the April 4th tip off between these two teams something to see. The Pistons weren’t necessarily on fore last season, and have since landed some big names and new tricks to their roster. All tickets for Boston Celtics tickets 09-10 season are on sale, and StubPass.com remains your secure and informative online ticket source.
Has The US Open Entered A Time Warp?
It’s been building up inside of us for a long time. We’ve been as patient as mere mortal fans can possibly be. We have watched faithfully and enthusiastically as the tournaments leading to this year’s grand slam weeded out the ranked players in an almost perfect pattern, top to bottom in nearly the same number as each was ranked before we begun the season. 1972 was the last time that all of the top ranked players actually made the cut in succession, and here we go again.
So, what does this mean for we lowly spectators? It means that we will enjoy the top ranked players in the world vie against each other in the top championship of the world, just as we do each year, but with a twist. Each year, the US Open allows the 44 men and 44 women to earn a spot of play. This year, of those 88 men and women, only a handful are unexpected flops or surprise contenders. Everybody is in their rightful place. How bizarre.
While the number 1 battled it out against the number 2, the number 3 duked it out against the number 4, and so on and so forth. Like a fine dance practiced and hewn, the end result of the tournaments leading to this year’s US Open are miraculous, exciting, and bound to not repeat themselves for at least another 37 years. Some things you just can’t script or plan, so why bother beating it with a stick? Just get there and see it unwind for yourself!
