One Direction Releasing New Single, Unveils Album Art

one-direction-take-me-homeIn the same year that they released their debut album, One Direction will release their second album, “Take Me Home.” The album will be released on November 13 with the first single “Live While We’re Young,” being released to radio on September 24. One week later, the single will be available on iTunes.

The album, says Niall Horan of the group, “isn’t too different” from their debut album, but fans might find this one has a bit more of a personal touch. The band co-wrote many of the songs, along with renowned British artists such as Ed Sheeran and Tom Fletcher of McFly. Along with injecting their own lyrics, the album of the title is also quite personal.

“We all do a lot of travelling around the world and we get to see a lot of cool places. But the main thing is there’s no place like home. It’s always kind of nice to go home.”

When the band sent the social media world into a frenzy announcing the release of their next single in the next few weeks, they also released album art. The cover depicts all members of the band (Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles and Liam Payne) cramming themselves in and around a telephone booth. Perhaps to call someone and ask for a lift home? The cover has already gotten rave reviews, with fans saying that it shows the fun playful nature of the band.

For those that are wondering if the band plans on touring to promote the album — they are! You can find the dates on our One Direction ticket page at

Is Taylor Swift Coming to Your School?

She might not come to your actual school (although you could ask her if she wanted a guided tour) but Taylor Swift could be coming to an arena near your school if you get out and vote for her to come!

In conjunction with “VH1 Storytellers” and Chegg for Good, Taylor Swift is holding a contest that will have her playing an acoustic concert near the winning school. The school can be either a college or a high school (students need to be at least 13 years old,) and students can vote for their school here:

The school that receives the most amount of votes will win the grand prize of the Taylor Swift concert and of course, all bragging rights that go along with it. Along with that, the top five schools with the most votes will receive $10,000 for their music department, awarded by Taylor Swift and Chegg for Good. Snippets of the concert will then be broadcast on “VH1 Storytellers” on VH1 on Sunday, November 11. This being just weeks after the release of her fourth studio album, Red, fans can certainly expect to hear a lot about the creative process for that album.

Voting is currently open and will be until September 23, with the concert occurring on or around October 15. Schools must be within the continental United States, and in order to vote you must like Taylor’s Facebook page. Voting is also open to anyone who is of age and lives in the U.S.; you do not need to be a student of the school. However, just because you vote doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll get in. The winning school will be awarded the tickets and administrators will be responsible for distributing the tickets.

Check Out the New York City Food and Wine Festival

Nothing will get you more in the mood of fall than attending a great fall festival. If you are in the New York area or are planning a visit, one festival not to miss is the New York City Food and Wine Festival. This event is sponsored by the Food Network, so you know it is going to be good!

The event is held from October 11th to the 14th, and this is the 5th year for this festival. The festival is great fun but it is also for a good cause. So far, they have raised $5 million dollars for the Food Bank of New York, which works hard to help end hunger. You cannot only have a wonderful time, but also do something productive for the world!

There will be plenty to eat and drink and plenty of activities to enjoy. You will get to meet winemakers, watch live demonstrations from big name chefs, and sample some fine spirits. Events that are can’t-miss include the cutie cook Rachael Ray and her “burger bash”, Giada Laurentiis’ “meatball madness”, the roast (as in friends poking fun, not the oven kind) of Anthony Bourdain, shake and bake with Whoopi Goldberg, and many grand tastings.

While mostly an event for an adult palate, there is even a special event just for the young chefs among us called “Fun and Fit in the City”, which will be hosted by the lovable Guy Fieri. Young ones will learn all sorts of interesting things about the foods they eat and will even get to try their hand at cooking a meal.

There will be so much to see and do that it may be hard to choose which events you want to attend individually. If you want to make it easy, you can buy a “pass” for your favorite events. For example, there is the “Food Network Addict” pass, which will get you into the “meatball madness” event, as well as the “tacos and tequila” event, which is hosted by Bobby Flay and more. Other passes include the “Food and Wine” pass, the “Party Animal” pass, the “Grand Tasting Weekend” pass and more.

This is sure to be the foodie event of the season and bound to make for one memorable autumn! Book your food and wine tickets today.

Going to a Kelly Clarkson Concert? Bring a Request!

Going to a concert is sheer awesomeness for fans. Great music, a chance to see their musical idols live, and maybe even for the first time! But Kelly Clarkson has once again taken things up another level by taking song requests from the fans. Requests that she’ll actually sing! What’s more, the requests she takes are for covers, so it’s a chance to see her done something she’s never done before — adding awesome to awesome.

Kelly Clarkson covering songs as part of her concerts is something that she’s just recently started doing. And if you’re going to the show, all you have to do is tweet the song that you want to hear, and you might at some point during the show. Clarkson has recently rocked out to No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak,” Katy Perry’s “Wide Awake,” and Britney Spears‘ “Everytime.” She’s even donned a hoodie during a recent Detroit concert and covered Eminem’s “Lose Yourself.” Sure she mostly sang it instead of rapping, but still something very cool to see.

Most recently, it was the current smash hit “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen that Clarkson performed at a concert. After belting out the hit song, Clarkson added that the song “kind of confused me. Does it confuse anybody else? ‘Before you came into my life, I missed you so bad.’ Who did you miss? Because you didn’t know them….I don’t know.” To see her sing the song that confuses her, check it out here.

We don’t know either. But we do know that accepting tweet requests before a show is a great way for stars to take advantage of social media. And we hope more will start doing it!

The Price Is Right – Come See the Live Stage Show!

Do you love guessing grocery costs? Do you dream of the words “Come on down”? Does the term Plinko thrill you to your very core? Then you must be a fan of The Price Is Right! There is some good news for fans of the show that cannot make it all the way out to the studio, as there is now The Price Is Right — Live Stage Show! Even better is the fact that it may be coming to a town near you!

Just like the official show, the stag show version features audience members winning big prizes! It is all similar in format. For those attending to register or participate, you can “come on down”. Depending on where you are seeing the show, you may simply have to have the fastest fingers by punching in the correct bid on an electronic keypad during a full audience one-bid, or in more traditional fashion, it may be done by random drawing. Once chosen, the lucky audience member gets to go on stage and play some of the famous games. Often up to 50 audience members will have the chance to win. Prizes are everything from t-shirts to appliances, to good old cold hard cash. There is even a chance to win a car!

Just what games are including in the stage version of the show? There is of course the beloved Plinko, where a contestant drops a small disc from the top and watches it bounce of pegs until it arrives at the bottom where it can earn the player big cash or pocket change. Other games include the Race Game, Punch-A-Bunch, It’s In The Bag, Hole In One, Clock Game, Cliff Hanger and more. The only chance in the Liver Version to win the car comes at the final showcase, where the contestant must be within $100 dollars of the actual price in order to get the car.

Live shows are permanently held in Las Vegas, but there are also some traveling shows currently scheduled for Tallahassee, Florida, Sioux City, Iowa, Indianapolis, Indiana, Westbury, New York and several other cities. Check for tickets today. Come on down and be a part of The Price Is Right – Live Stage Show!

Alanis Morissette has a New Album, and a New Tour!

Alanis Morissette may have been making her TV reality show appearances lately, singing on American Idol with Crystal Bowersox; and becoming a mentor on last season’s The Voice. But she hadn’t produced an album since Flavors of Entanglement, an album in which critics said she showed the most individuality and growth than she ever had before. Fans wanted more; but they had to wait another four years before they got it. Now, that time is here.

Almost a year after posting on Facebook that she was back in the studio, fans can now expect a new album from Morissette — and a date for it! Being released on August 28 is Morissette’s eighth studio effort, Havoc and Bright Lights; and she’s got a tour planned to promote it as well!

The tour will be named the Guardian Angel Tour 2012, after her first hit single off the album, Guardian. She’ll stop in over thirty cities across North America, and will be bringing new tracks as well as the favorites that fans have fallen in love with over the years.

“The show covers the gamut of every chord choice and every emotion I have ever felt,” she said in a statement announcing the tour. “The songs from the last 17 years are blending together like great friends. Thankfully there is a timelessness in their content and passion for me!”

Be ready to download Alanis’ latest in less than two weeks and, in the meantime, check her tour dates and get Alanis Morissette tickets for a city near you!

U.S. Wins Medal Tally in London Olympics

usa-medal-tallyThroughout the entire Olympics, it was China and the United States battling it out for highest in the medal tally. But on Wednesday, Day 12 of the 2012 London Olympics, the United States overtook the top rank of the medal tally and from there on, athletes just continued adding to the tally. The States ended up with a total of 46 gold medals, and 104 medals in total. China on the other hand, was a fairly close second with 38 golds and 87 in total.

Of course there were many memorable moments.  Several of them were brought by Michael Phelps, who not only won three gold medals, but also retired at the age of 27 as the most decorated Olympian of all time, with a total of 22 Olympic medals.

And there was also the U.S. women’s beach volleyball duo, Misty May-Treanor and Kerri Walsh-Jennings. May-Treanor will also make the London Olympics her last and she too, has made history. Along with Walsh-Jennings, they are the first team in history to win three consecutive Olympic golds in volleyball.

Gabby Douglas had a disappointing last week in the Olympics, but she started off with a bang. One of the first Americans to make history during the 2012 London Olympics, Douglas won in the women’s all-around competition, and was the first African-American to ever do so.

But it wasn’t all during the first week, or even week and a half, that the States dominated in London. The athletes continued on to gold right up until the last minute, with the U.S. men’s basketball team taking gold over Spain yesterday. Just the day before, the U.S. women’s basketball team had started the gold streak, taking the win over France.

In fact, Saturday was a very golden day for the United States. Allyson Felix picked up her third medal of these Games in the 4 x 400 relay; along with Francena McCorory; DeeDee Trotter; and Sanya Richards-Ross, who had already picked up her own individual gold in the 400 meter.

Following the United States and China on the medal tally was Russia, who will host the Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014. Great Britain took fourth place with a total of 29 golds, and a total of 65 medals. Not to mention that for 16 days straight they, along with the athletes, put on a pretty good show.

Bolt to Make History in the 100 and 200 Meter

Tonight Usain Bolt will try to become the first person to ever win the 100 meter and 200 meter in consecutive Olympic Games. But before he does it, he’s going to have to defeat his teammate, Yohan Blake. Blake has beaten him twice at the Jamaican Nationals for the same event; and is typically much faster, even though it was Bolt who set the world record of 19.19 and the Olympic record of 19.30. And let’s not forget, after what we saw when Bolt ran the 100-meter on Monday, that cold hard determination.

Bolt has already set the stage between Blake and himself for tonight’s event. “I’ve told Yohan that the 200 meters is going to be different because the 200 is my pet event. I’m not going to let him beat me again.” But it’s not a matter of giving Blake anything. While Bolt has had some issues with his back and a tight hamstring, he seemed to more than overcome them when he ran earlier this week. Still, Blake will be coming up from behind, and that could be the nail in Bolt’s coffin once again between these two runners.

It’s happened before. It was during the trials in Jamaica that Bolt held the lead, only to have Blake take it away and outrun him. If that doesn’t happen though and Bolt wins, Blake may have no one to blame for Bolt’s grit except for himself. “He (Yohan Blake) said, ‘Usain, this is an Olympic year. Wake up,” said Usain. “So I’m happy and I’m grateful for that moment because after that I refocused and I got my head together and I got my head in the game.”

Go Evil with Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson

Close the windows, pull the drapes, hide your drugs and weapons. The twins of evil have been unleashed and they’re ready to rip through your town. At last, the kings of sinister, the masters from the boiling pits of insanity on a live wire, Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson are doubling up to set your soul on fire.

Rob Zombie has earned a reputation from not only his music, (White Zombie and then a solo career) but also his films, serving as a director and producer. (And even a writer!) Marilyn Manson is the hard rock devil flirter that brought us such irascible albums as Smells Like Children and Antichrist Superstar. He also did a mean version of Danny Elfman’s “This Is Halloween” from The Nightmare Before Christmas.

You haven’t seen anything yet until you’ve seen these teaming rock stars’ new performance, rolling out of Phoenix, Arizona on September 28th at the Desert Uprising Festival, and wrapping up the first leg of their sizzling, hell bent tour on that sacred day of death and defiance, in Houston, Texas. That’s Halloween for the uninitiated, and what better way to herald in the dead than attending a Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson concert?

Yes, it’s about time the two master fiends of the electric string got together, and they have no intention of letting down their fans. Accompanying them will be J Devil, the DJ alter-ego of Korn’s front man, Jonathan Davis, to drive the sound of electro-metal into utter chaos.

Their agenda is to spook you, thrill you and creep you out. They have plenty up their fiendish sleeves; their morbid theatrics include animatronic robots, pyrotechnics and ghoulish film clips. Zombie is under wraps, working on his new album, but in the meantime plans to release the remix disc, “Mondo Sex Head” on August 7. In the meantime, Manson is kicking up support for hard rocking new album, “Born Villain”, which debuted earlier this year and hit the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart while yielding the hit single “No Reflection”. If you’re looking for the macabre to kick off your autumn festivities, don’t miss out when the “Twins of Evil” go on tour.
